Who am I?

I live with my loving husband and my naughty little toddler daughter in MN, WI, USA. I graduated in electronics and worked as a Business Analyst in some leading multinationals. In my formative years, I would have never imagined that someday I would end up blogging and that too about food. Years back the only exposure I’ve had to Baking in my childhood was when Mom used to bake some Butter cookies. And by the way they tasted delicious!. A little later in life a neighbor introduced me to baking “Fruit cake” during Christmas time. There was something about these two experiences that created a lasting impression in me.

I have always had a natural flair for cooking and deep down I wanted to venture into some form of food blogging but never got an opportunity due to education, career and personal commitments. A little while back I made a conscious effort to pursue this as a hobby and lo behold, I am here today!

As I browsed the net, I was amazed to see the plethora of food blogs and the passion of the bloggers. I was intrigued not only by the food itself but all the way it was presented.I used to bake simple stuff to start with, like Pizza’s made with bread and experimented on my guinea pig( the husband P:)).Slowly but surely, I started understanding the nitty-gritty of baking and tried more complex stuff. The passion caught on me and I used to spend hours watching Food Network, reading books and journals related to baking from the library. Did I say, I have a large collection of Baking Books and I preserve them with utmost care.My favorite is BAKING by James Peterson. He is arguably the best! I am trying to Bake each and every recipe from his book. My favorite ones include the sinful Blueberry Frangipane Tart,Panettone and Cakes.

I enrolled in Daring Baker’s Challenge right around this time, three years back. And that was probably one of the wisest things I have done. It not only gave me a chance to bake something new, something international but also a forum to interact with the blogging community. I have learnt an awful lot going through the posts of my fellow bloggers.

I took a lot of breaks in between, DBC kept me active month on month. Its only now that I have got into some serious blogging.

I also realized that photography is a very important dimension in blogging.Initially I had a Sony point and shoot camera and after pestering and cajoling my husband, I finally got an SLR, a Canon 450D for my Birthday two, three, four, five years back. It was gathering dust for most part until the birth of my little one( little A), I started dabbling with it capturing her first years.

What else?

Oh by the way did I even mention my name? I am Nithya but go by Nina in the blogging community.

I am a shop-a-holic and Sur la table tops my fav list.I am a Vegetarian err an Eggetarian and needless to say a foodie lover! I love traveling and trying out multi ethnic cuisines. I know I have lot to learn and long way to go but my eventual dream is to write a book and own a confectionary. As they say, if you love what you do, you don’t have to work a single day in your life!

I welcome you to the world of Foodielovers. I hope you enjoy reading as much as I enjoy baking and presenting it to you!

Nina:)
